2014 Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers & Steve Winwood Tour
Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers are still going strong after nearly 40 years of being together. This time, they are touring with special guest Steve Winwood and will have their very first show in San Diego on August 3rd with the Darien Lake Performing Arts Center show on September 7th. The tour will stop in 29 cities and make its way from West to East before finally coming to an end in Los Angeles on October 10th.
Steve Winwood is will be opening the show and should need no introduction. This Rock and Roll Hall of Famer has been around since 1963 and has collaborated with some of the biggest names in music history. While a set list has not been released, he has recently toured, so we have an idea of what he might sing. “Fly” and “Higher Love” seem to be on most of his set lists as well as songs from Traffic.
Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers will be playing a lot of old and new songs alike. Old favorites, such as “Refugee” and “Learning to Fly” are almost a certainty. For anyone that is interested in hearing music off of the band’s latest album, Hypnotic Eye, there will definitely be a few songs played. The best part is that the album is said to go back to the old style the band is best known for during their first two albums. The album will be released on July 29th, but a few songs that you will hear include “Fault Lines” and “U Get Me High.”
An interesting perk included with every ticket purchased is that the purchaser will also receive the Hypnotic Eye album for free. This is the band’s 13th album together and should be one of their best-selling releases that finally gives the fans what they want: a return back to the classic Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers.
